The ER...

Do you ever have one of those days that you know something just isn't right? Well that was today for me. I took Cassidy to Church (MDO) and it seemed all was well, I was off to hit the grocery store, clean house and run a couple errands. Well I get home from the grocery store to find out that a friends little girl (4 months) had been in the hospital since Monday but was home and doing better though I couldn't help but think Cassidy or Jason and I were going to be getting sick since we were with them on Saturday and Monday. So that was probably the moment that the pit formed in my stomach.

I went on with my to-do list and ran my errands to come home and find Jason here meeting a guy delivering firewood (there is nothing like the real smell of a fire!). We were standing in the kitchen catching up on our afternoons when my cell phone rang, it was a number with no name. When I saw it I looked at Jason and said great, I bet it's church and something happened. Well, it did!

Cassidy fell backwards in a chair and hit her eye on the corner of a wooden baby doll bed. She was cut and bleeding but calm. Jason and I jumped in the car and went to see our baby girl. She was a bit in shock but calm cool and collected, it was a bit strange. We brought her home and took her to our neighbors for some advice. They have a 3 year old little boy who has had a few facial abrasions plus her brother is a plastic surgeon, so if we were going to have stitches we knew where we wanted to go!

After a few minutes of dissecting the cut we found out the Brother in law was in surgery at the hospital so we headed there, the best part was he was in the house if we needed him. Our visit was actually very quick and easy, we were in the room in less than 30 minutes. Once the ER doctor got to us he wasn't sure if we were going to get glued or stitched. Thankfully after cleaning the wound up he decided that it didn't need either! Yeah. We were sent on our way with a little ointment and a boo-boo band aid. Life is Good!!

Funny thought was while sitting in the waiting room Jason pointed out that he doesn't think he has ever had stitches and I couldn't count the number of times that I have had them!! Let's hope Cassidy follows in her daddy's footsteps!!

in need of a laugh...

Well so far my record for writing on here is not great, I hope to get on track eventually. For now I let you know that today has been one of those days where I really needed a laugh! Well, it's 6:45 pm and I finally got the one I needed.

Jason, Cassidy and I are sitting here watching our favorite show, Dora. If you know us or have ever hung around a 2 year old, you probably understand that this is the millionth time we've seen the same episode and mom & dad would really rather watch anything else, but the girl wins. OK, so imagine this...Cassidy and Jason are sitting on the couch, Cassidy has the remote, she is about to throw it, Jason says to her, give me that. (Use your imagination here) Cassidy stands up on the couch, stands with her legs bowed, puts the remote between them and sits down on it, as if we did not see her do this. She then looks at dad and gives him the what are you talking about look. Well, that was my laugh. I do understand that it was really one of those moments that you needed to be here, but if you can imagine and have ever spent time with a 2 year old I am sure you can appreciate it!

Hope everyone else has gotten the laughs they need or that this may have helped bring them to you!!

time to become a blogger

Howdy everyone! Well here I am, a new blogger, wondering what to say...I will start with coming up with a name for the page. One of my thoughts was "The Torry Teller". Those of you who know me best know that this is a name that was granted to me by a dear friend (you know who you are!) mostly because I LOVE telling stories, especially long ones. I will tell you its a family trait, short stories are NOT our speciality. With that said, I will make a vow now to do my best to keep my posts short, sweet and to the point! Be patient, I am sure it will get easier for me.

So why am I starting this? I finally realized that my daughter turns 2 this week and when she was born I vowed to myself to write down all the "little" things that she would do so that we could remember and some day tell her about them. Well let's just say that I haven't kept up with my part of the bargain and she sure has! With that thought I decided that the best way to do this and keep up with it would be to start blogging so that I can document and share with family and friends as soon as these little things happen.

A first "moment" for the blog....last week Jason, Cassidy and I were out to dinner. We were seated next to a man dining by himself. He was trying to read and enjoy his dinner and Jason and I were doing our best to keep Cassidy focused on our table and not trying to talk to him. Soon enough he left. Cassidy didn't realize it at first and when she did she asked me where he went, I responded with, "he went home to go night-night". She was quick to respond, "no, he went poo-poo in the potty". With tears streaming down my face and Jason trying not to choke on his food, I calmly tried to tell her that we didn't know him and that going potty is a bit personal. Oh Lord, the life and mind of a 2 year old!!

So to each of you who may be reading, I hope you enjoy the life of my husband, daughter and myself and may it bring you a moment of happiness along with us!

That's all for now!
